When Michael Hall graduated high school, he got a summer job at the same window and door company his father worked for with plans for college in the fall. Little did he know that summer job would lead to a lifelong career in the industry. Michael spent the next 38 years going from gopher to National Sales Manager. Over that time he saw a handful of changes in ownership with the company he worked for, but when the company changed hands the last time, in 2006 he found himself at a crossroads. Michael reflects on the decision to start Hallmark, “I thought about retiring early, but it was still a little too soon.

Hallmark has expanded in recent years and now offers Interior Design as well as Custom Closets, Shelving, and Home Office Solutions
Michael continued to grow his business and at one point considered retirement, and in 2015 had someone express interest in the business. After a few months of negotiations the new owner pushed the timeline back before backing out entirely. Michael was disappointed but everything fell into place when his son Bryan approached him. Michael remembers, “My wife never loved the idea of selling the business. She always had a feeling that it was meant to stay in the family. Turns out, as I’ve learned many times throughout the years, she was right”. Bryan Hall had a construction background, but found himself working in retail management. When Bryan told his dad he would be interested in working with him, Michael finally had clarity regarding the future of Hallmark. Michael had corporate experience with manufacturers and sales, but Bryan brought in fresh perspective from retail, customer relations and the very important social media. “We make a great team, and I’m thrilled to be working with Dad here at Hallmark” Bryan shares. In 2016, Bryan came on full time as the third generation of Hall’s in the window and door business.
As a smaller family-owned company, Hallmark prides themselves with a personal touch other companies are unable to provide. Either Michael or Bryan are personally involved with every job. “We try and go above and beyond” Michael says. “One example, we had homeowners who were having a tough time making a final decision on the grilles in the windows they were ordering, so Bryan and I went to their house and used painters tape to layout the design choices for them. They could visually see the options. It was worth our time to ensure they made the right decision and would be happy with their purchase”.
